DIFFICULTY |
---|
We chose this evaluation criteria because difficulty is unremovable from yo-yo freestyles, and we believe that as the level of skill goes higher, the audience naturally becomes more excited. |
EXECUTION |
We chose this evaluation criteria because we believe “freestyles are meant to be performed for an audience” and the player must show their freestyle with few or no mistakes. We want players to perform a well-executed freestyle. |
CONTROL |
Any player can be able to do any trick after enough practice, but high-class players can perform the very same trick in a way that elevates the trick to become something more than just its parts. We want to evaluate those skills which cannot be scored solely by difficulty. |
MUSIC USE |
---|
We believe a freestyle can be significantly more attractive through a fusion with music. 44CLASH values music usage a lot, and we hope that players will show their performance in a way that utilizes the club house’s great music setup well. |
CORDINATE |
We see a freestyle as a full work of art, and we chose this criteria with the hope that players will revisit the coordination of their freestyles, including music, construction, routine, costume, and tricks, into a unified theme. |
ENTERTAINMENT |
We believe that a great freestyle can charm the audience, and that the audience’s applause is the best spice for players and a contest. We chose this evaluation criteria because we are seeking performances which can draw out the audience’s excitement. |
COOLNESS |
---|
From our very first contest in 2008, 44CLASH has had the concept of “showcasing yo-yo not just as a toy but as a cool thing for everyone.” We want everyone to show their own “cool yo-yoing” through their skill and performance on stage. |
PUNCHLINE |
Of course, the overall difficulty is very important, but one mind-blowing trick can change the image of a player and their freestyle in an instant. We want to hear conversations among the audience like “Her last trick was dope!” “I loved that part of his freestyle!” We want to see tricks and performances that will stick in the audience’s mind forever. |
